There are serious consequences for a DUI or DWI conviction in Louisiana. In addition to the criminal penalties, a conviction will affect your insurance and driver's license. If you already have a DWI on your record, the consequences become more severe. A third DWI in the span of a decade is an automatic felony.
I will review your case for any defects and work to suppress evidence that was not gathered properly. I will look into the calibration and maintenance records of the Breathalyzer and have blood samples analyzed by an outside source, so I can negotiate a lesser charge or reduced sentence. As I work to build your defense, I will be available to give you answers to your drunk driving questions.
Driver's License Suspension
The DWI laws have changed in Louisiana, and if you are now convicted of drunk driving, your license will be suspended for one year. You will only be able to drive with a hardship license, which will allow you to drive to work, church and the doctor's office. A hardship license also requires you to have an interlock device attached to your car, which means you have to essentially take a Breathalyzer before you can start your car.
